Cubs at 8th Alton
There are two Cub Packs at 8th Alton.
Helping children begin to explore who they are and what they can achieve, Cubs is a great environment for boys and girls. Cubs aims to introduce children to more adventurous activities indoors and outdoors. There is an introduction to traditional Scouting activities and Cubs are given more responsibility for their activities, beginning to learn independence.
During their time with us, Cubs have the opportunity to take part in camps, outdoor cooking and adventurous activities that might include shooting, climbing or kayaking. Cubs continue to earn awards and badges, working towards the prestigious Chief Scouts Silver Award.
Anstey
Day & Time: Wednesday 6.45 – 8:15pm
Leaders: Thomas Jenkin (Baloo) & Beth Rubens (Jacala)

“We support Cubs with earning their badges while embracing new challenges and having fun. Cubs are often found running through streams, by a fire or generally being outside.”
Neatham
Day & Time: Monday 6.45pm – 8:15pm
Leader: Andrew Dane (Akela)
Andrew says:
“At Neatham Cubs we aim to involve young people in fun activities, whilst making friends, earning badges, enjoying the outdoors and learning valuable life skills.”
Cub Uniform Badges
When you move from Beavers to Cubs, you keep your neckerchief / scarf and a few badges. These are:
- the ‘membership award’ (the circular purple badge with a fluer de lis)
- Group name (8th Alton)
- District Badge
If you have been awarded your Chief Scout’s Award, you can wear that too.
